Antonio Conte said he was pleased with Tottenham’s performance, intensity and reaction after successfully beating Rangers 2-1 in the pre-season match which took place on Saturday (23/07) afternoon local time at Ibrox Stadium.

The five new players who made their debuts in the second half of their Tottenham vs Rangers clash were Yves Bissouma, Fraser Forster, Clement Lneglet, Ivan Perisic and Djed Spence. The visitors fell behind through Antonio Colak in the 24th minute before taking the lead through Harry Kane who scored twice in the 50th and 56th minutes. The Spurs managed to hold on to victory until the last minute and snatched the Walter Tull Memorial Cup trophy in front of 43,000 fans at the stadium. Glasgow.

“I think this game is a real game, Rangers are a very good team, they fought to win the league in Scotland, they reached the final of the Europa League and in the last friendly they won 3-1 over West Ham, so we have played against each other. A good team and have good quality,” said Conte via SPURSPLAY.

“I’m happy because I’ve seen a good intensity, I’ve also seen a lot of situations we tried in training, the pressure is good. Certainly especially in the first half we created a lot of scoring chances. I also know we are a little tired because we are working, but at the same time when you have a lot of chances to score you have to try to score them because you know very well if you don’t you risk losing.

“My players know very well that in every game we have to try to win it, a friendly or a game to get the three points, this is very important because in this way we also train mentally, every game is important.

“Today I repeat it’s not a friendly game and for that I’m happy because it was a good game for us, a lot of players played more than in the previous games, other players also performed like Lenglet, Spence. I’m satisfied because the players worked really hard and to have this kind of performance is positive, we have to carry on.”

Meanwhile, Spurs’ last match in pre-season this time is a visit to Israel against AS Roma in the I-Tech Cup which will take place on Saturday next week 30 July.
