Squid Game managed to become one of the most phenomenal shows in 2021 and successfully won the title as the most popular series on Netflix. This Korean survival genre series has a unique concept that tells the story of 456 people who must survive by passing various obstacles in the form of traditional games. One winner of this competition will also be able to win a million won prize.
Recently Netflix officially announced that they would be making a reality show with the same concept as the competition in Squid Game. The winner of the reality show titled Squid Game: The Challenge will be able rewarded a prize of 4.56 million dollars.
Netflix even did a massive casting to find participants who are interested and want to compete on the reality show. The casting process is open to anyone from all over the world.
“The stakes are high, but in this game the worst fate is going home empty-handed,”
-the company said in a statement on Tuesday, 14/06/2022.
Netflix said “Squid Game: The Challenge” will feature games from the original series as well some “surprising new additions.” It will comprise 10 episodes in total.
If you’re interested to join, you’ll need to meet all the requirements that have been determined on the official registration site. One of the criteria is you need to be 21 years or above.
In fact, this is not the first time the competition in the Squid Game exists in the real world. Previously, several countries such as the United Arab Emirates and South Korea had also held a survival competition with the exact same game as in the series.
The difference is, the competition held by Netflix will have a reality show broadcasted. It will be similar to the Ninja Warrior or Takeshi Fortress events. But don’t panic, participants who fail in certain games will not get the death penalty like in the real show.
